As Maine’s secretary of state and the first woman to serve in that job, Shenna Bellows has displayed her opposition to the Trump administration’s numerous attempts at federal overreach. And she has persevered despite political pressure and personal threats.
For the past year, Bellows has been part of a national coalition of secretaries of state in opposition to the Department of Justice by refusing to hand over the personal information of Maine voters.
Bellows has actively fought the spread of election misinformation and defended local election officials.
Bellows paused the issuance of new confidential license plates to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (ICE) in Maine.
And no matter your party affiliation or who and what you voted for during Bellows’ tenure, Maine led the nation in voter participation in 2022 and ranked third in 2024.
Our state is a place where I am fortunate and proud to live and Shenna Bellows has been a Maine secretary of state who has shown that as governor she will keep it that way for us. Her record and values are why I believe Bellows will continue to preserve our special way of life here and why she can lead Maine to meet any challenges that lie ahead.
