Spencer Pratt‘s run for mayor of Los Angeles has his former reality TV castmates talking — and they are definitely not all on the same page.

The Hills alum announced his candidacy at the “They Let Us Burn” public demonstration in January 2026, on the one-year anniversary of the Palisades Fire that killed 12 people and burned more than 6,800 homes near Pacific Palisades, California — including the home Pratt shared with wife Heidi Montag and their two sons, Gunner and Ryker.

“The system in Los Angeles isn’t struggling, it’s fundamentally broken,” Pratt said at the rally. “It is a machine designed to protect the people at the top and the friends they exchange favors with while the rest of us drown in toxic smoke and ash. Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m done waiting for someone to take real action.”

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Pratt spoke candidly about his goals.

“Winning the mayor’s race will be a victory for truth and transparency, which is what I’ve been fighting for this whole year,” Pratt said in January 2026. “The end goal is the same: to shine a light into the darkness.”

Keep scrolling to see which Laguna Beach and The Hills stars have weighed in on his run:

Kristin Cavallari Sees Potential in Spencer Pratt’s Campaign

During an April 2026 appearance on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, Kristin Cavallari offered the warmest take among Spencer Pratt’s former costars. She made it clear she’s rooting for him even if she can’t cast a ballot from Tennessee.

“He’s on to something, we’ll see what happens,” Cavallari said, noting that she cannot vote for him because of where she lives. “I will always have a soft spot for Spencer, I think he’s great.”

Cavallari further discussed Pratt’s campaign during an April 2026 episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast.

“I think Spencer running for mayor is f***ing genius. Because I think everyone in politics — I don’t care what side you’re on — everyone is corrupt,” she said, noting that Pratt is “a real person who is going to call out the corruption” in Los Angeles.

Cavallari continued, “He is going to actually get s*** done. He is fired up because he lost his house, and he obviously has seen all the corruption in L.A.”

When she appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that same month, Cavallari said she was “shocked” at first about Pratt’s mayoral bid.

“If you actually listen to him, he knows his stuff. He’s very well-spoken,” she added. “Unless you live in L.A., it’s kind of hard to have an opinion. These people lost their homes [in the wildfires], they lost everything and so people are fired up and I have empathy [for] them. I’m here for it and I honestly could see him winning, people in California really are excited about him.”

Lauren Conrad and Stephen Colletti Keep Things Vague

Lauren Conrad was far less enthusiastic during the same Today appearance. When host Jenna Bush Hager asked whether things were “healed” between Conrad and Pratt — the two had a well-documented falling out during The Hills — she didn’t share much.

“Sure,” Conrad replied. “Sorry, you’re asking me about people I haven’t spoken to in decades.”

Both Conrad and fellow Laguna Beach alum Stephen Colletti also dodged the question about Pratt’s campaign by explaining that they live in Orange County and aren’t eligible to vote in L.A.

Spencer Pratt and Sister Stephanie Pratt’s Ups and Downs Through the Years

Perhaps the sharpest critique came from Spencer Pratt’s own sister. Former The Hills star Stephanie Pratt took to X in February 2026 with a pointed message.

“Spencer has done great work for the Palisades. But LA does not need another unqualified and inexperienced mayor,” she wrote. “A vote for him is a vote for stupidity.”

She followed up with a series of posts: “He’s just trying to stay famous and sell his memoir don’t be fooled.” She added, “At least hire someone with work experience who wasn’t in a cult. I’m WORRIED about LA. I have no problem with Spencer playing government but our city needs help.”

Spencer claimed during a February 2026 appearance on the “Need to Talk” podcast that Stephanie has been “asking for mayor merch every day” and said his run is the “only thing” that keeps her happy.
