What Happened in ‘The Boys’ Season 5, Episodes 1 and 2?

One year after The Boys season 4, only Starlight, Kimiko and Butcher were still free. Starlight’s resistance group successfully released the video of Homelander abandoning the passengers of Flight 37 to die, but Sister Sage discredited that footage with AI accusations. To draw out Butcher and Starlighter, Homelander let it leak that Hughie, M.M. and Frenchie were being held at a Vought “freedom camp” and facing execution.
Butcher recruited Starlighter and Kimiko for the mission, but Homelander had already laid out a trap for any would-be rescuers. The Boys were only saved by the arrival of A-Train, a former member of The Seven. A-Train put himself on the line to draw Homelander away, only to find a measure of redemption when he sacrificed his body to prevent an innocent woman from dying. Homelander finished him off, but not before A-Train mocked him to his face.
‘The Boys’ Season 4 Finale Hints a ‘Supernatural’ Reunion Is on the Way
A-Train’s true loyalties weren’t known to the general public, and Vought portrayed his death as a terrorist attack by The Boys. Meanwhile, Butcher threatened to murder all of his friends and Starlight if they let his hostage, Sameer Shah, know that he murdered Shah’s lover, Victoria Neuman. Instead, Butcher let Shah believe that Homelander killed her so he’d be motivated to work on the virus that may kill all Supes.
Back at Vought, Homelander brought his father, Soldier Boy, out of stasis and offered to clear his name if he found Butcher and The Boys. At the same time, The Boys planned a test of the virus on Rock-Hard, a member of Teenage Kix. The entire plan almost went sideways when Soldier Boy showed up, but the virus was successfully deployed, and even Soldier Boy fell victim to it. Or so we thought. After Homelander openly grieved over Soldier Boy’s death, his father sat up in his body bag.
What’s Going to Happen in ‘The Boys’ Season 5?
The Boys are back together, and they think they have what they need to kill Homelander and potentially every Supe on Earth. Actually going through the equivalent of mass murder may not be as easy as it sounds. Especially since Homelander still controls the government, Vought and the Seven.
Is There a Trailer for ‘The Boys’ Season 5?
Yes, and it offers a glimpse of the events to come beyond the first two episodes. It also demonstrates that Homelander’s new goal is to achieve immortality. However, Homelander’s attempt to bond with his father, Soldier Boy, may be over if the latter believes that he was set up to die.
How Many Episodes Are There in ‘The Boys’ Season 5?
There are eight episodes in The Boys season 5. After the first two episodes drop on April 8, one episode will be released weekly every Wednesday until May 20.
