Former Bachelorette Hannah Brown initially wasn’t thrilled that her brother, Patrick Brown, found love with her ex-fiancé Jed Wyatt’s former girlfriend Haley Stevens.
“At their wedding, I did a speech and I just said, ‘You’re welcome,’” Hannah, 31, quipped during E! News’ “Hot Goss” series on Thursday, May 8. “Because they would have, in a weird way, never known each other. There was a Bachelorette true love that came out of my season, it was just not my own.”
Hannah served as the Bachelorette in 2019’s season 15, where she got engaged to Wyatt, 32. Their engagement, however, was short-lived once Hannah found out the singer was still in a relationship with his girlfriend, Stevens, from before the show.
Patrick and Stevens got engaged in December 2021 after less than one year of dating. The pair, who tied the knot in September 2022, welcomed daughter Sophie in May 2025.

According to Hannah, it initially felt weird to see her brother marry the woman who once dated her ex.
“I would say at first it was really difficult. It really strained everyone’s relationship,” Hannah said. “I was not having it. You know, they have a beautiful relationship. For me to say that, I was the one they had to convince, and I am so thankful for how everything turned out because I have a wonderful family [and] we all get along so great.”
The romance novelist further revealed that the arrival of her niece helped smooth over any bad blood.
“We’ve come a long way,” Hannah stated on Thursday. “When I found out that I was going to have a niece, it changed everything. I would say, like, even them getting married, it was like, ‘Oh, well, we’re doing this.’ … It’s been a lot of growth.”
Hannah and her husband, Adam Woolard, recently traveled to Alabama to celebrate niece Sophie’s first birthday.
“Sophie girl is ONE,” Hannah gushed via Instagram on Sunday, May 3. “Cutest party for our sweet girl! Aunt Hannah loves youuu.”
Patrick replied, “Soph girl loved having her Aunt Hannah and Uncle Adam there!”

Hannah had previously been candid about her drama with Patrick over his relationship with Stevens.
“I just want to support my brother continuing to grow and if they make each other happy, I’m happy for them,” Hannah exclusively told Us Weekly in April 2022. “You can love your family and still know that there are things that can be triggering. Because we love our family, we’re not gonna say anything. Or like you said, ‘You can’t choose your family,’ but the way that we grow up is so pivotal to these patterns that we find ourselves in.”
Wyatt also moved on and married wife Ellen Decker in July 2024. They welcomed their first baby, daughter Daisy, in September 2025.
