Despite the rain Wednesday, there was a sure sign of summer on the midcoast.
Red’s Eats in Wiscasset opened for the season Wednesday.
The popular roadside attraction on Route 1, known for its lobster rolls and seafood baskets, is now open for locals and tourists for its 88th year in business.
One of the owners says Red’s fresh and high-quality food keeps people coming back, saying it’s five-star food that comes from a takeout window.
“People make a point, they wait in line and then they make a point to come back up and say that was worth the wait, that was a piece of heaven, we can’t wait to come back. That means everything,” Red’s Eats President and co-owner Debbie Gagnon said. “We’re so excited to be back open today. So, welcome everybody, come see us, we can’t wait to feed you.”
She said that, in addition to the classics, there are new menu items, such as a deep-fried lobster kabob.
Red’s Eats is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
