A Glenburn homeowner was injured Saturday night when a fuel tank ignited near a woodstove.
The homeowner was in the home’s basement about 7:02 p.m. when an MAP gas container, which typically contains a propylene-based fuel, was knocked over near a woodstove, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
But when the homeowner attempted to move it away, the container was inadvertently pushed under a wooden workbench, where it ignited, Moss said Monday morning.
Firefighters quickly arrived and contained the blaze to the basement.
The homeowner was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The fire has been ruled accidental.
