The owner of Miss Portland Diner is speaking out after a woman found a hidden camera in the restaurant’s bathroom.
Cheyenne Farrell told CBS 13 that she discovered the camera in the women’s bathroom Wednesday morning.
Farrell was enjoying her meal at Miss Portland Diner. When she got up to use the bathroom, she noticed a chair in the corner of the stall.
“I don’t think anything of it,” Farrell said.
After taking a closer look, she spotted something strange.
“I noticed there was a black thing on the bottom of the chair facing the toilet, and I was just kind of like, ‘This is bizarre,’” Farrell said.
She said it turned out to be a camera, and she caught the whole thing on her phone.
Farrell immediately contacted Portland police to report the finding.
Police logs show officers responded to the diner the same day and spent three hours looking into “suspicious activity.”
Tom Manning, the diner’s owner, said in a new statement: “First and foremost, the safety, privacy, and trust of our guests and employees are extremely important to us. We can confirm that as soon as the camera was brought to our attention, we immediately contacted the Portland police, turned over the item, and are fully cooperating with their investigation.”
Police wouldn’t say more, except to say that officers are investigating.
