Three people have been accused of drug trafficking after a weekend bust in Skowhegan.
Michael Griffin, 38, of Farmingdale has been charged with operating after license suspension, failure to provide proof of insurance and operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection sticker; Sadie Macdonald, 30, of Fairfield has been charged with aggravated drug trafficking and unlawful drug possession; and Louis Lopez, 51, has been charged with aggravated drug trafficking, drug trafficking and unsworn falsification, according to Skowhegan police Chief David Bucknam.
Griffin was driving a silver 2004 Toyota Camry on Middle Road about 9 p.m. Saturday when an officer pulled him over because Griffin was missing a registration plate and had a loud exhaust, Bucknam said Monday morning.
During the traffic stop, the officer found that none of the four occupants had a valid driver’s license. Another officer brought a police dog to the scene, and the officers discovered more than 3 ounces of fentanyl, nearly an ounce of cocaine and almost 2 ounces of a “cutting substance,” according to Bucknam.
“The drugs taken off the street continue to show we are in a war with the trafficking and using of these dangerous drugs. Not just in our Town but everywhere in the great State of Maine. The Skowhegan Police Department with continue to locate these drugs, arrest the people poisoning our citizens and ensuring you can sleep safe at night,” Bucknam said in a statement.
