Late NHL player Claude Lemieux is survived, in part, by his wife, Deborah Lemieux.
Us Weekly confirmed in May 2026 that Claude — a hockey legend with four Stanley Cup championships to his name — died by suicide at age 60.
“The NHL Alumni Association is devastated to share that Claude Lemieux has passed away at the age of 60,” read a statement shared via X. “He was loved by his wife and four children, and on behalf of the Lemieux family, we kindly ask that everyone respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
Us confirmed that Claude’s son found the athlete in their family’s furniture store in Florida. A spokesperson from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Claude was in the showroom of the Andros Home just after 3:00 a.m. on May 28, 2026.
“The business was secured for evidence preservation/investigation by VCD Homicide,” the spokesperson continued. “The victim is believed to be Claude Lemieux.”

Claude’s son Brendan Lemieux was the first family member to speak out.
“I love you dad!” he shared via Instagram. “My son’s favorite person is going to watch from above for a while. We will see you.”
