The victim in a fatal early April fire in Westfield has been identified.
Richard Lawrence, 70, died in the April 9 fire that destroyed a house and barn along Route 1 in Westfield, the chief medical examiner said Wednesday.
The fire broke out around 3:38 p.m., Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said at the time. Family told firefighters that a person was trapped in the burning home.
Investigators from the state fire marshal’s office previously said the fire started around the barn, but the cause has not yet been determined.
Westfield is south of Presque Isle in Aroostook County.
