Residents in six Aroostook County towns will vote on a proposed $8.3 million budget for the Hodgdon school district at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The vote will take place in the Hodgdon Middle High School auditorium.
MSAD 70’s proposal for the 2026-27 school year represents a 7.1% increase over this year’s $7.7 million budget, but Superintendent Tyler Putnam believes it will pass because the overall increase to the towns is below 4%, he said.
“As we know, goods and services costs continue to rise, but we are trying our best to limit the increase in one year and spread costs out over a number of years,” Putnam said. “We increased our enrollment this year so that was promising when it comes to overall state subsidy.”
The district includes students from the towns of Amity, Haynesville, Hodgdon, Linneus, Ludlow and New Limerick. The total local contribution increased by 3.6% or $276,801.
Voters will consider 22 articles during the public vote.
