Jack Schlossberg is hitting back at claims he canceled campaign events to catch some z’s.
“Needed a quick nap!!” Schlossberg, 33, wrote via X on Thursday, May 14, alongside a photo of himself resting his head on a table with his eyes closed. “Even though I just woke up. Rest of the day/month wide open lmk if you wanna hang?”
The Kennedy family heir, who is running to become the Democratic candidate in New York’s 12th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives election, concluded his post, “Wait nvm changed my mind really busy can’t make it.”
Earlier on Thursday, The New York Times published a report claiming Schlossberg is running a “chaotic” and “erratic” campaign, including allegations that he has high staff turnover and is often absent for long periods of time without explanation.

“Just hours into his Day 1 launch, the candidate abruptly announced a change of plans, according to three people familiar with the events,” the report claimed. “Forget dialing for dollars — Mr. Schlossberg said he needed a nap. He then effectively disappeared for the day, leaving his team reeling.”
Schlossberg promptly responded to the claims in an interview with CNN.
“There’s a lot in that article that’s not true, but you know how this works: Once you’re declared the frontrunner and early voting starts in less than a month, everyone’s got something to say,” he told Inside Politics host Dana Bash on air Thursday.
Schlossberg added, “I’m a decisive person, and I run an operation that is nimble and small. … I have a core group of people who have been with me since the beginning.”

Sharing the interview clip on X, Schlossberg wrote, “If you’re gonna hit me, then hit me !! Our campaign is making opponents really mad :).”
The Democratic primaries in New York will take place in June.
Jack — a grandchild of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy and the son of
Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg — announced his campaign in November 2025. Weeks later, Jack’s sister Tatiana Schlossberg died at age 35 after a battle with leukemia.
“Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,” the JFK Library Foundation shared in December 2025.
On May 5, which would have been Tatiana’s 36th birthday, Jack took to Instagram to share a hopeful message.
“Hey everybody, it’s May,” he said in a video. “It’s the month of May. I want to talk a little bit about the month of May because it’s a special month. It’s the month when things surprise you. When nature says, ‘It’s all gonna be OK.’”
Jack continued, “We go through winter, we see little buds on the trees and we think they might be dying or dead. And then May comes around and they surprise us with a little bit of green and a little bit of life. Our hydrangeas are blooming. Our flowers are pushing up out of the ground. … May hits you like a bus with a little bit of something I like to call surprise and delight. And that’s the month of May.”
