A powerful tribute in Washington, D.C., on Monday will honor 23 police dogs who died in the line of duty.
Among them is a Maine State Police dog named Preacher who was killed in February 2025.
Preacher, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, was shot and later died following a standoff in Portage Lake in northern Maine.
Preacher’s handler and supporters will be there to remember his service and sacrifice.
The ceremony brings together families and law enforcement from across the country.
Organizers have also partnered with Nine Line Apparel to raise funds for future tributes with proceeds supporting police dog teams nationwide.
