On May 10, moms around the world get their time to shine thanks to Mother’s Day. The annual event is the perfect time to bond with mom, and what better way to do that than by watching a good movie?
Watch With Us is here to recommend several entertaining films to stream during Mother’s Day weekend on streaming platforms like Hulu, Tubi and Disney+.
With The Devil Wears Prada 2 ruling the box office, it’s only fitting to watch the original — just don’t wear a cerulean sweater while doing so.
If you’re craving something a little more serious, hang out with Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton and the rest of the gals by streaming Steel Magnolias.
We also recommend watching Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan on Disney+.
‘Steel Magnolias’ (1989) — Tubi
No movie encapsulated everything we love about moms better than Steel Magnolias. The 1989 drama stars Sally Field as M’Lynn, an overprotective Southern mom to young bride-to-be Shelby (Julia Roberts). M’Lynn is overbearing and fusses too much over her daughter, but she has a very good reason — Shelby is a diabetic and doesn’t take care of herself as she should. As the seasons change and Shelby marries and has a child of her own, M’Lynn is always there for her daughter whenever she needs her.
New Netflix Movies in May 2026 — Here Are My Top 3 Picks to Stream
Steel Magnolias is the perfect Mother’s Day movie, but it’s more than that — it’s also a funny dramedy featuring a stellar all-star cast that includes Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis and Dolly Parton. It’s a tearjerker in the best sense of the word, and it will make you appreciate your mom or your friends who function as surrogate parents.
‘The Devil Wears Prada’ (2006) — Hulu

Sure, there’s no central mother-daughter relationship in The Devil Wears Prada, but who cares when a movie is this good? When Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) takes a job as an assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), the editor in chief at Runway magazine, she gets more than she bargains for — and the opportunity of a lifetime. If she remains in the job for a year, she can realize her dream of becoming a serious journalist. But she’ll first have to survive Miranda, whose impossible list of demands is as long as her rolodex of famous designers and stars who worship — and fear — her.
With the sequel already a hit in theaters, now’s the perfect time to rewatch the original. Mom can probably relate to Miranda’s situation — she’s not mean, she just desires perfection — while most daughters and sons can relate to Andy’s naivete and ambition. Although it’s 20 years old, The Devil Wears Prada hasn’t aged a bit — even the clothes look fashion-forward rather than passe. Streep earned a well-deserved Oscar nomination for her snappy performance, but just as good is Emily Blunt as Miranda’s other assistant, the sassy Emily.
‘Freaky Friday’ (2003) — Disney+ and Hulu
What parent doesn’t wish their kid could walk in their shoes for a day? That universal desire is mined for laughs in Freaky Friday, the 2003 remake of the classic 1976 Disney movie starring Jodie Foster. This update stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as Tess and Anna Coleman, an estranged mother and daughter who find themselves inhabiting each other’s bodies after a fateful encounter with a fortune teller. At first horrified, Tess and Anna soon realize all the advantages of their strange situation, with Tess reliving her youth as her teenage daughter and Anna gaining self-confidence while posing as her intimidating mother.
5 Best Lindsay Lohan Movies, Ranked by Rotten Tomatoes Score
What makes this Freaky Friday work is the fun and commitment its two lead stars show off in every scene. Curtis has a blast playing a rambunctious teen, while Lohan gets some well-earned laughs as a kid horrified to be in her mother’s uncool, saggy body. The film is beloved for good reason by millennials and Gen Zers alike, and even an inferior sequel, 2025’s Freakier Friday, didn’t dim its enduring appeal.
