A 14-year-old boy was shot in Lewiston on Thursday afternoon.
The boy was shot in the leg about 4:30 p.m. on Avon Street, according to the Lewiston Police Department.
Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots, screaming and many other teens running from the scene.
He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.
Police detained several teens and seized three guns.
The shooting remains under investigation.
