With Scott Speedman finding success on ABC with RJ Decker, does that mean his character Nick will die in the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy finale?
“Things have happened, like they do at that hospital in Seattle. So things happen, but we’ll see what happens with Nick’s fate for sure,” Speedman teased of his character’s future to TV Insider earlier this month.
Speedman called his return to Grey’s Anatomy for the season 22 finale “exciting.”. In the trailer for the upcoming episode of the medical drama, Nick was seen being wheeled into the hospital on a stretcher.
“Luckily, I was able [to do both shows], and I’ve been filming in North Carolina, so it’s very tricky to get in and out of,” Speedman, who is also starring in ABC’s RJ Decker, explained. “So I was able to get back to do an episode for the season finale of Grey’s, and that was very fun and exciting.”

He continued, “We were able to do it pretty quickly and then jump back on a plane and get back to R.J.-land. So it’s tricky but doable.”
Speedman didn’t rule out another return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
“I love doing that show, and it’s always fun,” he continued.
While Nick’s chances of returning are still high, Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy (Kim Raver) are leaving the show at the end of the season. Raver, 57, reflected on the possibility she could be exiting Grey’s Anatomy shortly before news broke of the multiple cast departures.
“That’s the life of an actor,” Raver exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of her shocking exit, opening up about life working on a hit medical drama amid cast changes.
“When I was on 24, I always felt like being Jack Bauer’s girlfriend — I had a target on my back,” she added.
Raver, who has played Teddy since season 6, wanted to focus on the work she was doing on screen rather than worrying about her future employment.
“It’s really just about trying to be present and doing the work and following the amazing story lines that the writers are giving us,” she explained. “Especially with how now we’re always having these incredible cliffhangers. One never knows.”
Grey’s Anatomy’s Biggest Exits Over the Years
McKidd, 53, addressed his exit in a statement
.
“Grey’s Anatomy has been a huge chapter of my life, creatively and personally, and I’m deeply grateful for everything the show has given me over the years,” McKidd shared in a March statement. “Playing Dr. Owen Hunt and directing on the show have both shaped me enormously, and I’ve had the privilege of working with an extraordinary group of people throughout that time. I’m particularly thankful to Shonda Rhimes for creating Owen, and for the encouragement she gave me as I stepped into directing.”
He continued, “As that chapter comes to a close, I’m looking forward to what’s ahead — building new work, telling new stories and taking everything I’ve learned into the next phase of my career.”
