A 17-year-old server helped save a customer’s life Sunday morning at a Brewer restaurant.
The customer collapsed about 10:15 a.m. at Mad Kat’s Restaurant on North Main Street. His heart stopped and he “died on the floor,” according to owner Kathleen Markwith, who recounted the episode in a social media post.
Markwith and server Abigail Sprague leaped into action while EMTs scrambled to the scene. Sprague performed chest compressions for six minutes, while Markwith provided rescue breaths, CBS affiliate WABI reported.
The man died two more times on the way to the hospital, according to WABI. He was expected to undergo surgery for a pacemaker this week.
“Please please take a moment to send positive vibes to this wonderful man and his family,” Markwith wrote.
Mad Kat’s was expected to open as usual Wednesday afternoon.
