
Charges against a man accused of assaulting a resident at a group home in Hermon were dropped after police failed to file a complaint in court.
Innocent Muzungu, 26, was arrested Feb. 1 and charged with intentionally endangering the welfare of a dependent person, assault and obstructing the report of a crime.
The Penobscot County district attorney’s office declined to prosecute the case on April 16 because no complaint was filed, according to court records.
Muzungu was arrested by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff did not respond to a request for comment.
Muzungu, an employee at the care home, was accused of assaulting a resident. The victim was taken to the hospital, police said at the time.
