Brad Paisley had complicated feelings about wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley‘s TV husband on 9-1-1: Nashville.
The 9-1-1 spinoff introduced Williams-Paisley, 54, as emergency dispatcher Cammie, who was still mourning the loss of her late husband. The actress was recently asked whether Paisley, 53, “got a little jealous” of her onscreen marriage.
“I have these emotional scenes because my character’s husband died a few years ago, and so I really have to create a whole backstory for myself, ’cause I don’t wanna imagine my own family or anything like that,” she told Good Morning America. “I had an acting teacher who taught me to create an imaginary world that you really believe is there.”
Williams-Paisley continued: “So, you know, we’re watching the show, and Brad’s like, ‘Man, what were you thinking about?’ And I’m like, ‘I was thinking about [my onscreen husband] Mark.’ He’s like, ‘Who’s Mark?’ And I’m like, ‘Mark’s perfect.’ He goes, ‘What the heck?’”

Paisley replied in the comments section when the clip was shared via social media, quipping, “I’m glad Mark’s dead.”
9-1-1: Nashville follows the lives of emergency responders — including firefighters, paramedics and police officers — as they face life-threatening situations. The obstacles often extend beyond their work lives and into their personal lives.

In addition to Williams-Paisley, the 9-1-1 spinoff stars Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, LeAnn Rimes, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz, Hailey Kilgore and Hunter McVey. Williams-Paisley previously teased that her husband could make a cameo on 9-1-1: Nashville.
“I said we should put him in turmoil, put him in an accident or crisis of some kind and let me save the day,” she recently told People. “That would make me feel good.”
Rimes, 43, has also weighed in on whether her husband, Eddie Cibrian, could ever appear on the show.

“They’ve definitely talked about it because he’s on set with me a lot,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in February. “Sometimes they just say that we should be putting him to work. Who knows? He could come on and play my love interest all day long. I would have no problem with that.”
Rimes gushed about this “calm” chapter in her life with Cibrian, who she married in 2011. “For me especially, everything has been go, go, go, my whole life,” she explained. “So to be able to settle into something that feels normal and calm was unnerving for a while. Because my nervous system doesn’t know what to do with calm. But I’ve started to train it enough that now it’s just like, ‘Oh, this is a breath of fresh air.’”
9-1-1: Nashville airs on ABC Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.
