NORWAY — On April 3, 1866, an initial $5 deposit was the first step on the path to the Norway Savings Bank of today as a single table in a building on Pikes Hill Road has grown into 25 branches in Maine and New Hampshire.
In recognition of the loyalty and support of generations of customers, NSB will be celebrating the 160th anniversary in a number of different ways, including with a 160th anniversary barbecue to help kick off the milestone year.
All are welcome to gather at the barbecue, which will be held on Wednesday, April 22 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Norway branch located on 261 Main St. The rain date for the event is Friday, April 24. There will be games, prizes, giveaways, music and much more.
A special 160th anniversary section has been created on the bank’s website at www.norwaysavings.bank/160years. Visitors can hear from longtime team members, customers and community organizations as well as view a timeline featuring many of the significant dates in NSB’s history.
