Mainers who are registered to vote as unenrolled can play a crucial role in the June 9 Maine U.S. Senate primary. We unenrolled voters constitute approximately 29% of registered voters in Maine and can exert our influence now that state law allows us to participate in primaries by choosing either party ballot. Because Susan Collins is the indisputable Republican nominee, I think there is no point in choosing a Republican ballot.
As an unenrolled voter myself, I am disappointed in both the Republican and Democratic party establishments. Graham Platner is running as a Democrat who wants to change the party system by building political power for ordinary citizens instead of the Epstein class that seems to run both parties. I will be choosing a Democratic ballot and voting for Platner.
I urge all unenrolled voters to learn more about Platner and his policy stance. He is continuing to offer in-person town halls as well as posting recordings online. His platform is available on grahamforsenate.com. Talk with your neighbors who are already Platner supporters and learn why they like him.
Early voting at our town offices starts May 11. We can vote for Graham Platner and disrupt the control of the two-party system.
