ORONO — University of Maine Cooperative Extension will host an open house at the Lafayette and Rawcliffe 4-H Science and Engineering Learning Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. The event will take place at 491 College Ave.
This free public event will introduce youth and families to UMaine Extension’s 4-H programs. Participants can explore marine life at the Touch Tank, create pony bead critters, experiment with color coding to power a robotic car and make seed starters with soil, paper and a variety of seed types. Information about joining local 4-H clubs and youth programs will be available. 4-H programs are grounded in the belief that kids learn best by doing and are developed to fit a variety of backgrounds, interests, budgets and schedules. Participants work with adult mentors to complete hands-on projects on topics that spark their curiosity.
No registration is required. For more information or to request a reasonable accommodation, contact Jessy Brainerd at 207-581-3877 or [email protected].
