OLD TOWN – Maine Audubon and University of Maine Cooperative Extension will co-host a two-part learning series on using hedgerows to support resilient ecosystems in home and community landscapes. Part one will be a webinar hosted by Maine Audubon at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 2. Part two will be an in-person workshop held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 25 at Rogers Farm Demonstration Garden, 914 Bennoch Road in Old Town.
The series will explore how hedgerows can support healthy, self-regulating ecosystems by managing pests naturally and providing food, shelter and connectivity for beneficial insects and birds. Participants will learn about plant and site selection, installation techniques and long-term maintenance through a combination of virtual instruction with Maine Audubon staff and hands-on fieldwork at Rogers Farm.
The webinar is free and the in-person workshop cost is $15. Pre-registration is required; participants may register for one or both sessions.
