Melania Trump‘s Amazon MGM Studios documentary is on its way to theaters.
Amazon MGM Studios revealed that the film, simply titled Melania, will be released exclusively in theaters in the U.S. and select territories overseas on January 30, 2026. It’s unknown when the film will hit Prime Video, where it is set to exclusively stream.
Produced with the first lady’s participation, Melania will later be accompanied by a three-part docuseries, which will follow Trump, 55, on her travels between Trump Tower in New York City, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach and the White House in Washington, D.C. (President Donald Trump officially returned to office in January after winning the 2024 election.)
Variety reported on Thursday, October 9, that Amazon allegedly paid $40 million for the rights to the doc.

“Melania offers unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration — through the eyes of the First Lady-elect herself,” an official logline for the documentary reads. “Step inside Melania Trump’s world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family.”
The synopsis continues: “With exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments, Melania showcases Mrs. Trump’s return to one of the world’s most powerful roles.”
Amazon MGM Studios also released a still from the doc, which showed Melania looking out of the window while in an SUV. Her husband’s participation in the doc is unclear, but Melania has stood by his side through many controversies in recent years, from his 2016 presidential campaign and victory to further investigations into his conduct after he left the White House in 2021.
Melania has previously opened up about how the couple don’t always see eye to eye.
“I don’t always agree [with] what he thinks, and I tell him that. I give him my honest opinion and honest advice,” she said in 2018 while talking to reporters in Egypt during a solo trip to Africa.

At the time, Melania emphasized that she had her “own voice and my own opinions and it’s very important for me that I express what I feel.”
Melania is the first film from director Brett Ratner since he was accused of sexual misconduct and harassment in 2017.
Ratner has largely remained out of the spotlight since multiple individuals — including Olivia Munn and Elliot Page — came forward with allegations of sexual assault and harassment, which they claimed occured eight years earlier. Ratner “categorically” denied the accusations.
Ratner’s attorney Martin Singer addressed the specific allegations in a statement at the time, alleging, “No woman has ever made a claim against him for sexual misconduct or sexual harassment. Furthermore, no woman has ever requested or received any financial settlement from my client.”
