
A Southwest Harbor man pleaded guilty on Tuesday in federal court in Bangor to two counts of receiving child pornography and one of count possessing child pornography.
Gary Peters, 36, allegedly received child sexual abuse material from two minors using social media and a messaging app, according to court records cited by the U.S. Department of Justice in a news release.
The FBI used a warrant to search Peters’ home in Southwest Harbor on March 27, 2024, where they allegedly found child sexual abuse material on electronic devices including his cellphone.
Peters faces from five to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to a lifetime of supervised release, according to the DOJ.
