I think it is important for all Maine voters to remember that Sen. Susan Collins voted to confirm Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Health and Human Services secretary. I also believe we need to hold her responsible for his actions and his lies.
Last week, Kennedy testified before the Senate Finance Committee. He denied the official tally that more than 1.2 million Americans have died from COVID-19. He also denied that new government guidelines for the COVID vaccine mean that people cannot get them. He repeatedly lied when senators quoted facts or data to show otherwise.
Nine former directors of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wrote an opinion column in the New York Times last week warning that Kennedy is “endangering every American’s health,” and more than 1,000 current and former employees of the Department of Health and Human Services wrote a public letter saying that Kennedy is endangering the health of the nation by spreading inaccurate information.
I encourage everyone to call or write Sen. Collins and remind her that she should be held responsible for endangering the health of Mainers and all Americans because she voted to confirm Kennedy and has not done enough to stop the Republican administration’s spreading of inaccurate information through his actions.
