The trucks get louder. The motorcycles get louder. The cars get louder. Now, the good ole boys are taking to the waters.
Sitting on the beach in front of my lakeside home, I am being inundated with the noise of a boat that doesn’t seem to have whatever is needed to run at an acceptable noise level. It sounds like a truck with no muffler and is literally making my ear drums vibrate. Of course, it was bound to happen. There have been very little checks and balances on the amount of noise vehicles are allowed to make for some time now.
I can’t imagine any one enjoying the obnoxious noise along this lake where loons are heard calling and waves lap the shores. I can’t imagine anyone enjoying the overly loud motorcycles, trucks and cars as they blast through neighborhood streets and along our highways. I cannot be the only one who is saddened by the disrespect shown for fellow citizens by these overly loud vehicles.
And I would ask why their noise levels are continued to be allowed? There are laws on the books in the state of Maine that, if enforced, would, I think, alleviate most, some, or even all of the excessive noise.
I can’t be the only one who is asking. I can’t be the only one who remembers the quiet before the onslaught of noise upon our senses.
