A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured Sunday evening when a motorcycle collided with an SUV in Eddington.

The girl was the passenger on a motorcycle driven by a 49-year-old man from New York on Route 9 about 5:33 p.m. when they collided with an SUV making a left turn onto Rooks Road, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

The man suffered only minor injuries, while his daughter was seriously injured. Both were taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, the sheriff’s office said.

They were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The SUV’s occupants weren’t injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
