Maine’s real estate market is emerging from the winter chill, so we took a look around the state to find homes with pools.
Here are four at polar price points, including two luxury offerings from York County and two on the more affordable end in central Maine.
A waterfront home on 6 acres

$3.9 million, Kittery
This 6-bedroom, 9-bathroom home on six acres in Kittery offers water views of Spruce Creek and has an in-ground pool with a stone patio in its backyard.
The property includes over 7,000 square feet of living space between its main house, carriage house and in-law apartment, allowing for the potential of multigenerational living, listing agent Christine Diehl with The Aland Realty Group said. That’s appealing to buyers who want extended friends or family to visit or live with them, Diehl said.
Built in 2003, the unique home two miles from the outlet mall boasts intricate, hard-carved woodwork throughout including a mahogany staircase and custom cabinetry. Other features include a stained-glass window, jacuzzi, chandelier, fireplace, 3-bay garage with electric charging stations, a tennis court, walking trails and the pool.
A large southern Maine estate

$1.1 million, South Berwick
This estate in one of Maine’s most southerly towns is on the market for $1.1 million. It boasts over 4,500 square feet of living space, landscaped grounds and a swimming pool.
“The pool is awesome,” said listing agent Nicole Parmley of Parmley Properties. “There’s plenty of entertainment space surrounding the pool, and there is a three-season room with all the windows around it that walks right out directly to the pool.”
It would be an ideal multigenerational estate, Parmley said. It’s a large home with two primary suites on separate ends of the first floor. It comes with a separate buildable lot with its own deed and tax map number that could become a second residence or investment.
The property has been on the market for a couple of weeks and just saw a $75,000 price reduction that netted it a lot of attention, Parmley said.
“It’s in a great town and a great neighborhood. Some people tend to gravitate towards our school district and our community in general,” she said.
An expansive home from the 1890s

$350,000, Skowhegan
Built in 1890 but recently renovated, this home in Skowhegan could easily be converted into a multi-unit property or would suit multigenerational living, according to listing agent Denise Swett of EXP Realty. It has a spacious layout, with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and an attic. It also includes a heated in-ground pool, wraparound deck and gazebo in the backyard and a large post-and-beam barn, too.
“The pump was recently replaced,” Swett said. “It’s a great feature. In the central Maine area, that is more of a unique feature.”
The home itself features wood pine floors, updated electrical systems, remodeled bathrooms, new doors and 25 new energy efficient windows.
A colonial home in central Maine

$350,000, Waterville
This 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom colonial home in Waterville has an in-ground pool, pool-side deck and patio with retractable awnings in its backyard.
“I’m jokingly calling it ‘the most affordable waterfront property in Kennebec County,’” said listing agent Ellen Wells of Coldwell Banker Plourde Real Estate.
The owner has lived here for 38 years but is moving on, Wells said. They enjoyed the property’s pool, but also its two-car garage, cheery sunroom overlooking the backyard and interiors which include hardwood floors and an enamel fireplace insert. The home, which was built in 1900, is only a mile from the shopping, dining and entertainment in downtown Waterville.
Because of its competitive price point, location and pool, Wells said the home has seen quite a bit of interest already despite only being listed Thursday.
“It’s just a beautiful, nice home and we’ve had some good activity on it. I honestly think it’s going to go under contract pretty quickly,” she said.
