Even Weeds alum Elizabeth Perkins doesn’t really know what’s going on with the show’s revival.

“Yes, I’ve heard about the Weeds revival but so far it hasn’t really taken off,” Perkins, 64, said during her Sunday, May 4, appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “Everyone’s kind of like, well what would it be? Weed is legal now.”

She added, “I think people just want to see Celia and Nancy together. So, that’s kind of where it’s heading. Road trip kind of thing.”

Perkins played the role of Celia Hodes on the Showtime series for five seasons from 2005 to 2009. The character, who was obsessed with becoming just like Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) mysteriously disappeared after the fifth season. (The show lasted for eight seasons, coming to an end in 2012.)

“I’m not sure Celia would be alive today,” Perkins said on Sunday. “I think someone would have killed her.”

The show’s creator and showrunner Jenji Kohan hinted during the final season DVD commentary that Celia moved to Mexico and became a drug dealer — or even cartel leader.

Deadline was first to report in May 2023 that there was a Weeds revival in the works. The following month, Perkins told Variety that it was just talk, but she would reprise the role.

“I’d be on board. I loved working with Mary-Louise Parker,” Perkins said at the time. “I love those two characters together, Nancy and Celia!”

Despite excitement over the series’ return, Parker has since hinted that Weeds may not return.

“They don’t want to anymore. So, they dragged it out for a really long time. And then I guess they decided, ‘No,’” Parker, 60, said during an appearance on “The Discourse Podcast” in September 2024. “But everybody in that cast, it was really kind of amazing that everybody at the end of eight years loved each other. And that’s kind of amazing. And I would have loved to have had that again. But oh, well.”

Aside from Parker and Perkins, the show starred Hunter Parrish (Silas Botwin), Alexander Gould (Shane Botwin), Justin Kirk (Andy Botwin) and Kevin Nealon (Doug Wilson).

For eight seasons fans watched the, ahem, highs and lows of Nancy’s life following the death of her husband, Judah Botwin (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The mother of two starts to sell marijuana as a way to keep up with her family’s lifestyle in the fictional Los Angeles suburb of Agrestic.
