A Cherryfield man was arrested Sunday after leading Bangor police on a brief chase and rolling his vehicle at a gas station.
Mark Flores, 42, was charged with eluding, driving to endanger, leaving the scene of a crash, operating with a suspended or revoked license, failure to register a motor vehicle and violation of conditions of release, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
Flores allegedly ran a stop sign and was speeding on Second Street, near downtown Bangor, early Sunday morning, prompting police to give chase. But officers called the chase off because of safety concerns.
Not long afterward, Flores rolled his vehicle over in the parking lot of the Circle K on Hogan Road, according to McAmbley.
Flores was taken to the hospital but he wasn’t there when officers arrived looking for him.
While checking the Circle K on Broadway, near Interstate 95, officers were told a man matching Flores’ description had run out the back door. Officers then found him behind a dumpster, where he was taken into custody.
Flores was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries before being transferred to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Monday.
No additional information was released.
