A Rhode Island man wanted on arrest warrants for felony assault and numerous other offenses was arrested in New Portland on Thursday.
Tyler Perry, 29, was sought on warrants from the Burrillville, Rhode Island police department on two counts of felony assault, reckless driving, possession of narcotics, obstruction and disorderly conduct. Perry allegedly operated a vehicle that dragged two Burrillville police officers a short distance, after driving away from a traffic stop.
An investigation led officials with the Maine Violent Offender Task Force to determine that Perry was staying in New Portland. He was located as a passenger and taken into police custody without incident.
Perry has been charged as a fugitive from justice, and will be arraigned in Maine while he awaits extradition to Rhode Island.
