A powerful storm will move into the state Saturday night and continue through Sunday.
Heavy rain, mountain snow, wind and coastal flooding will all impact the region.
Many areas may start out as snow as the precipitation begins Saturday night before changing to rain.
By Sunday morning, much of the state is looking at heavy rain and strong winds —heavy snow will continue in the mountains.
Coastal flooding will be a major impact for areas near the coast and especially in low-lying areas.
In Portland, we are forecasting a high tide of more than 13 inches at 11:41 AM which is approaching 2 inches above flood stage.
This is considered moderate flooding, however, major flood stage starts at 14 inches.
Areas that are prone to flooding will certainly be underwater mid-morning into the early afternoon.
Winds will gust 40-55 mph near the coast, 20-40 mph for areas inland and the strongest winds will move in overnight through around lunchtime.
The other story is the beneficial snowfall for the major ski resorts like Sunday River, Sugarloaf and Saddleback.
The mountains may approach double-digit totals by Sunday evening, accumulations drop substantially further south.
This moves out by Sunday afternoon with some sunshine possible later in the day.
