A nor’easter blowing through Maine on Saturday has caused some power outages due to strong winds.
The storm brought more than half a foot of snowfall to areas in southern Maine throughout Saturday morning, with some areas reporting more than 8 inches of precipitation by midmorning, according to the National Weather Service.
A blowdown in Falmouth caused power outages for Central Maine Power customers around 10:30 a.m. As of 11 a.m., approximately 6,376 residences on Central Maine Power’s grid were affected by outages.
Two outages in Versant Power’s service area were reported as of 11 a.m. — one in Tremont and one in Winter Harbor — but it was unclear whether the outages were storm-related.
A series of crashes occurred on the Maine Turnpike on Saturday morning due to inclement weather, according to the Maine State Police.
People are advised to only travel if necessary, and to use caution if getting on the road. No fatalities have been reported as of 11 a.m.
