A service of prayer and reflection has begun at St Paul’s Cathedral in memory of Queen Elizabeth II.
No members of the Royal Family are present at the service but King Charles III’s first address to the nation is being broadcast to the congregation.
Prime Minister Liz Truss and senior ministers are in attendance along with 2,000 members of the public who collected wristbands on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Ms Truss, who met King Charles for a brief audience in-person at Buckingham Palace earlier, will give a reading.
The first official rendition of the altered national anthem, with the lyrics now changed to “God Save The King”, will be played at the end of the memorial service.
