An insight into Arsenal’s 2022 summer transfer window plans has been provided on Friday.
The 2021/22 campaign was a mixed one for Arsenal. Had you told fans three games into the season that their side would finish 5th, they probably would have bitten your hand off.
However, after spending much of the last few weeks in 4th spot, losing out on a Champions League place to bitter rivals Tottenham in the final few games of the campaign will have no doubt left a mark on the Gunners.
Missing out on the top-four is also expected to have some impact on Arsenal’s summer transfer window as they will secure less money for playing in the Europa League and will also find it harder to attract top players without the lure of Champions League football.
Regardless of their European standing, though, it looks as though the north Londoners are planning for a busy summer window.
According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal are weighing up moves for four new signings.
It is added that the main priorities for Arsenal are signing a striker and a central midfielder, whilst a wide player and full-back could also be added, but those areas are not as pressing to improve on.
Among the names linked with Arsenal is Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans, with Arteta keen on signing a central midfielder who can play as a no.8 in a 4-3-3 formation.
Elsewhere, Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and PSV’s Cody Gakpo are said to be of interest to Arsenal:
