Former Kansas City Chiefs public address announcer Dale Carter reacted to his replacement after announcing he had quit working for the team after 16 years.

“I just saw that my friend Nate Rohr will succeed me as stadium voice of the Chiefs,” Carter shared via Facebook on Sunday, September 14. “Great choice! Go get ’em Nate!!”

Rohr commented on the post, “You’re all class Dale Carter and you left big shoes to fill. I’ll try to upload the standard!”

Carter announced on Friday, September 12, that he was vacating his job as public address announcer at Arrowhead Stadium.

Travis Kelce Caught Having Major Outburst Against Eagles: ‘Sick of This S***’

The beloved member of Chiefs Kingdom had become well-known for his iconic “It’s. Third. Down.” call inside the stadium which, ironically, led to his resignation.

“Last season, as we were heading into the playoffs, the people I work for (65 TPT Productions) told me they were hearing from ‘a high level’ that someone had heard another PA guy at another stadium really amp it up on 3rd down and they wanted me to experiment with different calls,” Carter wrote via Facebook on Friday. “Some of you caught on to that and mentioned that you noticed. I didn’t agree with what they wanted me to do but I’ve always been a team player and tried to do whatever they wanted me to try. Until this week.”

Carter received a call on September 9 informing him that “they wanted the other PA guy (the one who does pre-game activities and reads the commercials in game) to start doing the 3rd down call to shake things up.”

“That was my red line,” Carter wrote. “I wish them the best of luck.”

Carter said he was at peace with his decision, which he said would give him more time to “to focus on my family, radio, [my] podcast and my 2026 run for Jackson County Legislature.”

Taylor Swift Appears to Sneak Into Chiefs Game Despite Speculation She Didn’t Attend

“I was blessed to be the Chiefs PA announcer for 16 seasons plus 1 preseason game,” he wrote. “I never missed a game during that time (even going to London for a whirlwind 48 hours). I worked every major Fall/Winter holiday. I feel like I gave everything I had. It’s just time to close that chapter.”

The morning after the Chiefs’ home opener on Sunday — a 20-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles — Carter admitted it might take a while to adjust to his new normal.

“I admit … yesterday was weird for me,” Carter wrote via Facebook on Monday, September 15. “But I’m coming to grips with being the FORMER PA voice of the Chiefs.”
