It is time to ensure that Maine’s elections allow only one vote for every legal citizen. Anything else is an affront to democracy and our constitutional republic. In a world dominated by professional public relations spin, the truth is being traded for what a pundit wants the public to hear, with the truth left out.
Confidence in the election process is decreasing, I believe, due to subversion of the philosophy of one person, one vote. I think it is time to ensure confidence in the voting process with verification and accountability.
Without the safeguard of requiring voter ID, I believe Maine’s elections are not guaranteed to be of the people, by the people, and for the people. We, the citizens of Maine, are only a portion of the population determining elections.
Differing voter ID laws are in place and working in 36 other states within the U.S. I think they need to be in place in all 50 states and that Maine is behind the mark. It is time to restore some common sense and confidence in the voting process and eliminate the enabling of fraud in our elections.
This Nov. 4, we have the opportunity to vote yes on voter ID, to strengthen Maine’s elections and bring accountability and responsibility back to our state.
