With Steve Howey now starring in season 2 of High Potential, this could create the perfect opportunity for a Shameless reunion with Jeremy Allen White.
During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at the ABC Summer Soirée on Friday, September 5, Amirah J gushed about getting to reunite with Howey after they worked together on Shameless in the past.
“It’s really exciting [to work together]. I love adding new characters to the show,” Amirah, 18, who played Xan in Shameless, teased. “From what I’ve seen, Steve’s character is definitely going to be a fan favorite, I feel like.”
Amirah said she loves “adding people to our little family” and would love more surprise guests — including White, 34.

“I worked with him on Shameless and that was incredible. Then Steve Howey, who I also got to work with on Shameless, is now on the season,” she told Us. “So it’d be cool if Jeremy got to guest star.”
Shameless, which ran from 2011 to 2021, focused on the Gallagher family as they dealt with poverty, affairs, crimes and scams while living in the South Side of Chicago. The hit series starred William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, White, Shanola Hampton, Howey, Cameron Monaghan, Noel Fisher and more.
After his time playing Lip, White moved on to The Bear, which has scored him multiple Golden Globe and Emmy awards. Howey, 48, for his part, is joining season 2 of High Potential as “a savvy political animal who knows how to wear an expensive suit and oozes effortless charm.”
According to the official character description, Howey’s character Nick is “a guy who can launch a million fundraisers with his smile” and “has disruptor tenacity and likes thinking outside the box” like Morgan. “He has a way of putting himself right in the middle of the action … whether he’s wanted there or not,” the description continues.

While not much has been shared about the new cast, season 2 promises to raise the stakes after multiple surprise reveals.
“In my opinion, I love season 1 but I feel like season 2 is going to be even better, which I think is going to be really exciting for the fans to see,” Amirah teased to Us. “There is definitely more drama, it is more suspenseful and more heartbreaking in a way too. But in a good way.”
High Potential returns to ABC Tuesday, September 16, at 10 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.
