Full House star Candace Cameron Bure isn’t afraid to push back against online body-shamers.

On September 6, 2025, Bure opened up about her decision to post — and then subsequently delete — a photo of herself in a swimsuit.

“I was at the beach, [and] I was wearing a one-piece,” Cameron Bure wrote via her Instagram Stories at the time. “I am soaking up the end of summer. I was having fun. It wasn’t about my bathing suit or my body, but the comments became flooded with people discussing my body.”

Ultimately, leaving the photo up “wasn’t worth it,” she said, so the actress admitted she “took it down.”

This was hardly the first time Bure has spoken up about body-shaming. Keep scrolling to read more about what the Fuller House star has said about body image, confidence and more.

The Full House Crew Celebrated Her Weight Loss

During an August 8, 2024, appearance on the “Pod Meets World” podcast, Bure admitted she once lost 20 pounds while filming her hit series Full House — and how shamelessly the crew celebrated her dangerous weight loss.

“I had lost, like, 20 pounds from the end of one season to another,” Bure began. “I came in losing 20 pounds, but they thought it was so great and they were like, ‘Oh, on the opening titles, why don’t we have you on an exercise bike, just to promote that.’ And looking back, I don’t think that was bad. I really put a lot of hard work and effort into losing 20 pounds.”

She continued, “But the season before I had that episode where it was like, Kimmy [Andrea Barber] and I were going to a pool party and I didn’t want to put a bathing suit on, so I did a crash diet to try to lose weight in a week so I wouldn’t feel bad about myself in a bathing suit, and then passed out at the gym. And those are things that many of us struggle with. But yeah, you know, you play it out on television and sometimes it’s like…OK.”

She Still Labels Herself as Bulimic

In July 2025, Bure opened up about her struggles with an eating disorder as an older teen.

“I developed an eating disorder when I was 18,” she explained. “It was binging and purging, like, I’m a bulimic. I still say I’m a bulimic because the thoughts, whether I’m doing that or not, never leave me. I still need the tools to say, ‘No, Candace, we’re not doing that.’”

She Doesn’t Mind Putting People on Blast

Bure has also made it clear over the years that she’s not above putting someone on blast if they send her inappropriate messages — especially if those messages are about her appearance. In May 2025, she took a screenshot and shared a DM from someone who wrote, “U really look old here … not aging well???”

“I received [sic] countless messages like this on the daily. As much as I love connecting on social media, this is one of the downfalls,” Bure wrote in her own post shared via Instagram Stories. “I’m a [middle-aged] woman and can handle rude people. Imagine how this affects our children.”

The actress returned to the platform to continue the conversation in a second Instagram Story.

“I shared the last post, not for sympathy but to show the kinds of messages I receive daily. DAILY!! Aging is sensitive,” Bure added. “Comments like this hurt, no matter whether they meant to be mean spirited or just a shared ‘opinion’ As I embrace aging, I’m choosing to do it as naturally and as gracefully as possible.”

Weight Loss Trends Are “Scary”

In July 2025, Bure told Fox News she finds current weight loss trends and medications like Ozempic to be “scary.”

“It can be scary, although I feel like this younger generation has already had so much more body positivity that I hope they understand that it’s a trend,” she explained. “I think of my daughter, and she just doesn’t have the same viewpoint of body image that I did growing up, and especially as a child of the ’80s and ’90s. It’s like mine’s all messed up. I am middle-aged, and I still have all of these thoughts as to the perfect body and this and that, and it’s troubling.”

Sharing Photos of Herself Isn’t Always “Worth It”

On September 6, 2025, Bure admitted she had shared — and deleted — a photo of herself in a swimsuit because of the comments it received.

“I was at the beach, [and] I was wearing a one-piece,” Cameron Bure wrote via her Instagram Stories. “I am soaking up the end of summer. I was having fun.”

She continued, “It wasn’t about my bathing suit or my body, but the comments became flooded with people discussing my body.”
