Designer Giorgio Armani has died at age 91.
On Thursday, September 4, Us Weekly confirmed the news.
“With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani,” a statement sent to Us read. “II Signor Armani, as he was always respectfully and admiringly called by employees and collaborators, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.”
The message continued, “Indefatigable to the end, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, the collections, and the many ongoing and future projects.”

AP News also reported that the designer died peacefully at his house as he was recovering from an undisclosed illness. He reportedly planned to celebrate 50 years of his fashion house during Milan Fashion Week later this month.
“Giorgio Armani always made independence – of thought and action – his hallmark,” the fashion house noted. “The company is, now and always, a reflection of this spirit. His family and employees will carry the Group forward in respect and continuity of these values.”
His family and employees reflected on his passing in the statement, sharing, “In this company, we have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.”
Designer Roberto Cavalli Dead at 83
Celebrities who have worn the designer include Sydney Sweeney, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga, George Clooney and more. Sweeney, 27, is also the face of Armani Beauty’s “My Way” fragrance, and got glammed up by the label for the 2024 Met Gala.
Armani does not have any children, but he is survived by his sister, nieces and nephew.
