Paris Jackson publicly questioned Colman Domingo‘s comments about her alleged involvement in helping him prepare for the upcoming biopic about her late father, Michael Jackson.

On Monday, September 1, Domingo, 55, was asked by People about playing Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, in the movie. “[Michael’s kids Paris and Prince are] very much in support of our film,” he reportedly told the outlet. “I’m excited to be here at amfAR tonight with Paris. It feels like that’s a nice way for us to be together.”

The actor supposedly claimed that Paris, 27, was “very helpful” and referred to Prince, 28, as “a man of the film.” Paris later took to social media to deny her involvement.

“@Kingofbingo don’t be telling people I was helpful on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol that is so weird,” she wrote via Instagram Story on Tuesday, September 2. “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my thoughts on what was dishonest/didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.”

Everything We Know About the Upcoming Michael Jackson Biopic

Domingo has not yet publicly addressed Paris’ response. Us has reached out for comment. He has previously praised the project for offering a different perspective on the King of Pop.

“I think the whole point of this biopic is to really humanize Michael and really show like the making of Michael and who he is, and so it deals with a lot of things,” he shared during an interview with Andy Cohen in 2024. “A lot of things that may even be controversial, you know what I mean? So, it deals with it, and it’s got the family love and support, but they didn’t get in the way of really telling a compelling story.”

He added: “We really show how this family built themselves, how they relate to each other and to the world and what the world has also created.”

The upcoming biopic has gone through several delays over the years. After Graham King originally secured the rights to Michael’s story in 2019, it took four years before the lead role was cast. Michael’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, was cast to portray his late uncle and the cast was then rounded out with Nia Long, Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, Kat Graham and more.

Michael Jackson’s Kids: Where Are They Now?

“Michael’s life was complicated,” King said in a statement to Variety in 2024 about taking an “unbiased” approach to the biopic. “As a filmmaker, I look to humanize but not sanitize and present the most compelling, unbiased story I can capture in a single feature film and let the audience decide how they feel after watching it. Michael clearly remains an impactful, culturally relevant artist with a life and legacy worth exploring.”

The film will follow Michael’s life from his time with the Jackson 5 up to his 2009 death. Michael died after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home and it was later determined that the cause was an overdose of propofol administered by his doctor, Conrad Murray. The medical professional was convicted in 2011 of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to four years in prison.

While Michael wrapped up filming in May 2024, the release date was pushed from early 2025 to later in the year. It is now expected to be released in 2026.
