Kelly Stafford and her husband, NFL quarterback Matt Stafford, are “very blessed” with their life — but they don’t want their financial situation to affect their children’s upbringing.
“I am very, very blessed to have, obviously, an incredible husband who supports me nonstop … to be able to do certain things and afford certain luxuries,” Kelly, 36, said on the Sunday, August 31, episode of the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast. “At the end of the day, I still want to prove to myself that I don’t need any of that and to my kids.”
She added, “I’m like, ‘Listen, you’re not going to grow up spoiled rotten brats. I won’t raise that. I can’t do that.’ It’s hard because it could be easy to get them whatever they wanted.”
Kelly and the Los Angeles Rams quarterback, 37, are parents to twins Sawyer and Chandler, both 8, daughter Hunter, 7, and daughter Tyler, 5. The Staffords moved their brood from Detroit, Michigan, to L.A. in 2021 after Matt was traded from the Lions to the Rams. (Matt and Kelly have been married since 2015, after they started dating in college.)
Kelly Stafford’s Daughters Keep Saying Their Friends’ Houses Are ‘Small’
While Matt and Kelly’s girls are growing up in the bright lights of Hollywood, they are trying to teach them lessons of humility.
“[If they want something, I’m like,] ‘Go f***ing work on the corner [and] put a lemonade stand out. Make some money,’” Kelly quipped to podcast host Allison Kuch. “If you want to buy something, I will support you. The amount of money these kids make on lemonade stands in this neighborhood? People will drive by and just give $100, like, ‘Good job with the sign.’”
Whenever Kelly’s kids do raise an overwhelming amount of money at their lemonade stands, she moves a handful of the profits into their “bank accounts.”

“My husband didn’t grow up in this situation either, so raising kids with it is a learning process,” she explained. “We learn as we go. The other day, [Matt] was like, ‘How many book bags do they have?’ They have, like, seven book bags. I don’t know how it f***ing happened. They have a soccer bag, a gymnastics bag [and others]. … It’s Amazon book bags, but he’s right.”
While Kelly and Matt try to keep their kids humble, they end up splurging on certain items — especially during the NFL season.
Kelly Stafford Says She’s ‘Wasting Money’ Bringing Daughters to Rams Games
“We paid a s*** ton for it,” Kelly said on Sunday’s episode about the custom Stafford merch the kids wear to Matt’s football games. “That s***’s getting saved somehow.”
Kelly brings her kids to many Rams matchups each season, sitting in a private suite during home games at SoFi Stadium and on the sidelines at away games.
“I am taking them a s*** ton this year,” Kelly noted. “I’m stressed about it. It’s a lot, and they’re all East Coast games. We’re playing all East Coast teams.”
