KENNEBUNK — Animal Welfare Society is pleased to announce an exciting adoption promotion to coincide with Labor Day Weekend. From Thursday, Aug. 28 through Sunday, Aug. 31, adoption fees are reduced on cats, dogs, rabbits and more, including puppies and kittens.
The discounted adoption fees are as follows:
- Cats and puppies – 25 percent off
- Adolescent and adult dogs – 50 percent off
- Rabbits and small animals (excl. chinchilla) – 100% off
Those interested in adopting this weekend can stop by AWS’ Adoption Center anytime between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. for a meet and greet with the pet(s) they are interested in. For pets in foster care (as indicated on AWS’ website), adopters must call ahead to schedule an appointment. Adoption meet and greets start with a conversation with an adoption counselor about your lifestyle and the type of pet you’re looking for, followed by one-on-one time with your adoption counselor and the pet in one of AWS’ homey meet and greet rooms. If it’s a match, adopters should be prepared to bring their new pet home with them that day. All adoptions are on a first come, first served basis.
AWS hopes that the promotion will draw in adopters, particularly those who have not visited before. Many pets, such as dogs Eddie, cats Valerie and Harmony and rabbit Fluff have been at AWS since the spring. With the Adoption Center at capacity, the more pets that get adopted, the more space there is for AWS to help other dogs, cats and small animals in Southern Maine.
