It’s been a busy summer for Cooper Flagg, both on the court and on the cover of prominent sports magazines.
The NBA rookie and pride of Newport, Maine, is featured on the cover of the newest edition of Slam, a magazine that launched in 1994 and describes itself as the “Basketball Bible.”
Flagg was also on the cover of Sports Illustrated earlier this summer before he was selected first overall in the NBA draft.
Flagg graces the Aug. 26 Slam cover alongside the question, “What’s pressure?” He enters professional basketball with sky-high expectations and is widely considered a generational talent who could have an immediate impact for his Dallas Mavericks team.
“For me, it’s just loving to win, loving the competition,” the 18-year-old phenom said in the Slam story by Nick DePaula. “I’ve always wanted to win, more than anything else. It stems from there.”
The story also includes interviews with several members of Flagg’s inner circle, including his mother, Kelly Flagg.
“I hope that the city of Dallas falls in love with him the way that we love and adore him,” Kelly Flagg told Slam. “I think the city of Dallas will raise him up as well, because they’re going to see how hard he plays and that he plays the right way.”
This is Cooper Flagg’s second Slam cover, having previously been featured in December of 2023 not long after he committed to Duke University.
