FORT KENT, Maine — Fort Kent police are trying to identify a group that allegedly shot at a home on Caribou Road, the department said on Monday.
Police said the shooting occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 24, but was not reported until the following day.
“Through the initial stages of our investigation, witnesses reported a red Ford F150 pickup with Maine Veteran plates, with several occupants, leaving a party at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Caribou Rd,” Fort Kent Police Chief Michael DeLena wrote. “Once the pickup was on the roadway, a firearm was discharged from the vehicle.”
Witnesses reported firearms from both sides of the vehicle. A vehicle in the driveway of Caribou Road home was struck by one of the bullets. DeLena wrote that officers found roughly nine bullet casings from a 9mm gun on the road near the residence.
Police say there is no danger to the public and that this appears to be an isolated incident.
Police are asking anyone with information about the group or vehicle involved with this incident to contact them directly at 207-834-5678 or 207-834-6550.
