Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse Says “Stablecoin Market Will Hit $2 Trillion”

The post Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse Cheers Gemini’s New XRP Credit Card: “What a Time To Be Alive” appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News

Gemini is making headlines with a new move that strengthens its connection to XRP.

The crypto exchange is expanding its offerings for XRP holders with a new rewards credit card, which will enable users to earn and spend XRP seamlessly in their daily lives.

Gemini Unveils XRP Rewards Card

On Monday, Gemini announced the launch of a new XRP edition of the Gemini Credit Card, developed in collaboration with Ripple. The card allows users to earn rewards in XRP across everyday spending categories.

Cardholders can earn 4% back on gas, EV charging, and rideshare, 3% back on dining, 2% back on groceries, and 1% back on other purchases, with rewards in Bitcoin, Ether, or 50+ other cryptos on Gemini. It is also partnering with select merchants to offer up to 10% back on qualifying purchases.

“By introducing a special XRP edition of the Gemini Credit Card, we’re giving customers and the XRP Army new ways to earn XRP and express their passion, loyalty, and excitement,” said Tyler Winklevoss.

The XRP Credit Card comes with no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees, and free crypto rewards. Cardholders can switch between different crypto rewards anytime.

Ripple Execs Celebrate the Launch

Ripple CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, shared his excitement on X, saying, “An XRP rewards credit card out in the world?! What a time to be alive, XRP family.” Tyler Winklevoss joined in saying Brad would be given the “whale limit” on his XRP edition Gemini Credit Card. “I’m told he’s good for it,” he added.

Ripple CTO David Schwartz also added to the buzz with a lighthearted post saying he had his XRP belt, t-shirt, and rewards credit card ready at “XRPresso.”

Why Gemini Is Expanding Its XRP Offering

Gemini noted that XRP has delivered the strongest returns for its Credit Card users.

As of July, customers who held XRP rewards for a year saw gains of 453%, which was the highest among all reward options. In total, $73,700 in earned rewards grew to more than $407,000, making XRP a clear standout.

Gemini’s XRP Card Climbs App Store Rankings

Gemini also climbed past Coinbase and Robinhood in U.S. app store rankings. Gemini ranked 11th in the U.S. finance app category, ahead of Coinbase and Robinhood at 25th and 18th. Tyler Winklevoss summed it up, saying, “The flippening is accelerating.”

However, the launch received a lukewarm response, with critics saying that it offered nothing new since XRP rewards were already available. Some also pointed out it’s limited to U.S. users.

Gemini Expands RLUSD Access

Gemini is also expanding access to RLUSD. It was listed on Gemini in May and can now be used as a base currency for all spot trading pairs in the U.S.

Despite the new development, XRP couldn’t maintain its gains, sliding from $3.01 to $2.91 amid heavy institutional selling. It is down 1.3% in the last 24 hours.
