While Katie Lowes isn’t sure if she could return in a future season of The Hunting Wives, she has plenty of ideas about which of her Scandal costars should join the show — and who they should play.
During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Lowes, 42, broke down her vision for a potential season 2, saying, “Bellamy Young would be terrific [on the show]. She’s a Southern belle and she would be outstanding.”
Lowes, who played Quinn on the hit ABC series, has “been asked” whether she thought Kerry Washington‘s character, Olivia Pope, could “fix” the dynamics on The Hunting Wives.
“I’m like, ‘I don’t think so.’ We never saw Olivia Pope go to other places. The clients always came to D.C., and I don’t see the Banks family ever leaving Texas, so that’s really not a fit,” she continued. “I think Jeff Perry, who played Cyrus, would be great. He could be in the governor race opposite Jed Banks. He would be a perfect scary showman of a monster.”

Lowes added: “George Newbern, who played Charlie, he’s from Arkansas, and he should be a high up member of the church with Jill’s husband. Just bring everyone in. Those Scandal actors, they’re the best and they could do anything.”
The Hunting Wives, which premiered in July, follows Sophie (Brittany Snow) as she finds herself wrapped up in the orbit of socialite Margo Banks (Malin Åkerman). Sophie befriends Margo’s circle of housewives, but their dangerous secrets lead to a shocking murder where Sophie is the prime suspect.
In May Cobb’s novel that inspired the series, Lowes’ character, Jill, was the killer, so imagine readers’ surprise when the show killed her off before the finale.
“I knew when I auditioned that Jill was going to die, so I really leaned into it,” Lowes told Us. “I’ve gotten to die a bunch of times, so I just was psyched. I was like, ‘I [gotta] go big or go home.’ I [got] to have one amazing season of Jill being as unhinged as I could do it and I loved it.”
What ‘The Hunting Wives’ Cast Has Said About the Book Changes in the Show
Lowes enjoyed the challenge of putting her own spin on the character.
“I started reading the book and I quickly had to put it down when we started shooting. I was starting to get confused over the Jill that existed in the book and the Jill that [showrunner] Rebecca Cutter was putting on the show,” she recalled. “I had to put the book down and just really focus on this story and the job that I was doing with this version of Jill.”
Lowes continued, “Knowing that Margo was [now] going to be the killer and Jill was going to die, I was like, ‘OK, let’s just focus on the TV show and get that done so that my brain doesn’t get confused.’”
The Hunting Wives is currently streaming on Netflix.
