Bachelor Nation alum Madi Prewett is looking back on one of her earliest dates with now-husband Grant Troutt.
“We had a FaceTime date [when] he was in Missouri and I was in Dallas,” Prewett, 29, recalled on the Monday, August 11, episode of her “Stay True” podcast. “[We] just spent, like, a long time on the FaceTime praying and crossing that boundary of, like, ‘This is what we’re supposed to be doing when we’re married.’”
Prewett further noted that she and Troutt, 29, were “really praying and interceding for each other” during the duration of the virtual conversation.
“After we got off the call, we were more tempted than we had ever been individually,” she said. “It was just, like, ‘Man, this is supposed to be reserved for marriage.’ But, one of the most beautiful aspects of our marriage is there’s such a deep spiritual bond and union that’s healthy.”

Prewett added, “We pray together all the time, and I feel so safe in that, and secure in that and covered in that. When you do it in dating, you can’t feel the same safety and security because you don’t know if that’s going to be your forever person.”
Prewett started dating Troutt in 2021, quickly realizing that he was The One.
“You broke up with me because you’re, like, ‘Is she really about it or not?’ [and] we were probably three weeks in,” Prewett said on her podcast, noting Troutt questioned why she appeared on The Bachelor amidst her devout Christian faith. “But, I knew he was my husband [because] God had already spoken to me. I wasn’t too worried.”
Troutt, who stressed that they were merely “on a break” at the time, was grappling with an internal fear of commitment.

“I break up with her on the day I’m supposed to meet her family, [who] has flown into Dallas,” he explained, noting that Prewett’s relatives had traveled from Alabama to join her for a Redeeming Love screening. “She says, ‘I still want you to come.’ I have to come at this point.”
When Troutt arrived at the movie theater, he met Prewett’s parents for the first time.
“[My mom] knew,” Prewett added, referring to Troutt’s initial breakup conversation. “She also knew that I felt he was my husband, so it was a weird tension moment of, ‘You just broke up with her daughter.’”
Without further addressing the breakup to one another, Troutt and Prewett reconciled that evening.
“By that night at 2 a.m., we’re holding hands,” he quipped. “I don’t even know if we ever talked about getting back together, [and then] we’re back together forever.”
Prewett and Troutt got married in October 2022, later welcoming daughter Hosanna in January.
