Months before her death in August 2025, Kelley Mack praised her boyfriend, Logan Lanier, for his endless support throughout her battle with a rare form of cancer.
Mack announced via Instagram in January 2025 that she had been diagnosed with diffuse midline glioma (DMG), an “extremely rare type of astrocytoma cancer.” At the same time, she revealed that she had recently moved in with Lanier, whom she had mostly remained quiet about until then. While telling fans about her illness, which led her to need a wheelchair and a walker to get around, Mack thanked her family and Lanier for their help in her journey.
“I am very grateful to have such a supportive and loving family and boyfriend, who have been with me every second of this process,” she wrote. “It has been a very emotional and challenging time, truly testing my mental fortitude, faith, and physical strength. They are so positive and we have a sense of calm knowing that my healing is taking place and we will overcome. This experience has brought me closer to God, and I am leaning on him and trust his plan for me.”

Who Was Kelley Mack’s Boyfriend Logan Lanier?
Not much is known about Lanier, as he does not appear to have social media. However, Mack shared glimpses into their relationship in the months before her death. Lanier first appeared on the Walking Dead actress’ page in November 2023, with Mack sharing several photos and videos from a friend’s wedding weekend. She and Lanier coordinated in navy blue outfits and posed for a few loving selfies.
“Last weekend was a pure celebration of love & i’m so grateful to have been part of it 
,” she captioned the post.
Later, in January 2025, Mack revealed that she and Lanier had taken the next step in their relationship and moved into an apartment together in September 2024. Shortly after that, she began to experience health issues.

“I had persistent lower back pain and thought I slipped a disc,” Mack wrote in her January 2025 post. “A few weeks later, I had neuropathic itching in my right quad. And then, the shooting pains in my legs and back began, which resulted in me having to sleep in a recliner for a month because laying down was too painful. On Thanksgiving Eve, I had emergency MRIs done at the hospital, which revealed an abnormal mass in my spinal cord.”
Mack then revealed her DMG diagnosis, which is a primary central nervous system tumor that begins in the brain or spinal cord, according to the National Cancer Institute.
“Due to the biopsy surgery on my spinal cord, I have lost the use of my right leg and most of my left leg, so I now get around with a walker and a wheelchair,” Mack continued, later adding, “I just wanted to share this to be open about what I’m going through, in case any of you can relate or have been given a similar diagnosis. I am so thankful for the support everyone has given me throughout my acting career I love so much, which will also be somewhat paused for a little while as I undergo radiation treatment in Cincinnati, where my family is located. I do have some projects coming out soon, which I will of course share once they are released.”
She concluded, “I am determined and know that this will eventually be a short chapter in my long book. The positivity, love and prayers that are being sent my way already is overwhelming and I feel it all. Thank you so much 
.”
Mack included a photo of herself in the hospital in her post, as well as a video of Lanier pushing her in a wheelchair and a snap of the actress wearing a backless blue dress and standing in front of a gorgeous garden.
Mack continued to post updates on her journey in the following months, with Lanier making occasional appearances. In one March 2025 post, Mack shared a photo of a Valentine’s Day poem that her boyfriend had gifted her. Another video that month showed Lanier helping Mack walk up the stairs.

Kelley Mack Died at 33 Years Old in August 2025
Mack’s sister announced her death at 33 years old via Instagram on August 5, 2025.
“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go,” she wrote. “Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother Kristen and steadfast aunt Karen present. Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies 
. She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express.”
The post concluded, “Kelley’s Caringbridge link in her bio includes the 2-page formal announcement with information on her upcoming life celebration in Ohio on August 16th. She would want you all to know how much she loves you. And as her sister, I want you all to know how brave that tough SOB was, especially when she decided to make the leap to be reunited with God. I’m so f***ing proud of her.”
